Spring 2007
- Graduate students and the faculty member in the MBA capstone course, MNGT 6366 (Strategic Management), worked on the initial business models for a variety of alternative energy sources. Links are provided to the various papers resulting from this work.
- The Alliance members met periodically to provide input and guidance. In late spring, Susan Snyder was approached to provide assistance with the formal investment spreadsheets to be developed and made available to investors as part of the first year deliverables of the group.
Summer 2007
- The Alliance members and Susan Snyder began formalizing the spreadsheet/investment model for wind energy. This business model is available and ready for testing.
Fall 2007
- The Alliance members and Susan Snyder formalized the spreadsheet/investment model for solar energy. This business model is available and ready for testing.
- Work continues on the geothermal model.
- A project team composed of members from the UTPB Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) and the Jan and Ted Roden Center for Entrepreneurship are providing energy awareness training for students in the Ector County Independent School District. (put in link or pics of training).
- Dr. Ray Perryman will be attending a luncheon for the School of Business faculty and the Alliance members and leading a discussion examining the impact of the price of oil on the regional economy.
- The Alliance has received notification that the grant from the West Texas Coalition for Innovation and Commercialization has been extended for the next year.
Looking Forward
- The Alliance is establishing an advisory committee and will be working with area businesses to test the existing spreadsheets.
- Work on the geothermal spreadsheet will be finalized.
- A seminar will be delivered to the public in Spring 2008 to showcase the results of the Alliance efforts over the year, and help inform the region population and policy makers about innovative energy options and opportunities.
- The UTPB chapter of SIFE will continue the energy education project in the school system.
